Opportunity, Sol 9

A small shell found in a rich bed imaged by the microscopic imager (which is more like a hand magnifier).  This is similar to a whelk.

Spirit, Sol 288

Some armchair analysts thought this was an old gear from some ancient machine.  It is actually a type of seashell that has thick spines along its spiral ridge, resembling a gear.

Opportunity, Sol 166

This is an early find that is very similar to the moon shell.  It is broken open and the center "spindle" appears to the right.  Faint markings are on the left.
